Hospice services are for adult and pediatric patients with a wide range of life-limiting illnesses, including cancer, stroke, heart disease, lung disease, liver disease, kidney disease, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Alzheimer’s Disease, and AIDS. Major services provided by the team are pain and symptom management, emotional and spiritual support, provide needed drugs, medical supplies, and equipment, coaches the caregiver and family on how to care for the patient, deliver special services like speech and physical therapy when needed, makes short-term inpatient care available when pain or symptoms become too difficult to manage at home, or the caregiver needs assistance, and provide bereavement care and counseling to surviving family and friends. A hospice team usually consists of the following professionals: a Hospice Physician; a Primary Physician, a Hospice Nurse; a Hospice Nursing Assistant, a Social Worker, a Chaplain and a Bereavement Counselor. The hospice staff is on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hospice services are available to patients of any age, religion, race, or illness. Hospice care is a service covered under Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance plans, HMOs, and other managed care organizations. CompassionCare Hospice is here to give you a little hope.
